Sundays with Kasi: Planning, Procrastination, and Prayer
At Home with Kasi Nayles Founder of For the Few intimates
Hi,
I am so grateful knowing God cares about every detail of our lives. His cares are not limited and I only want harmony with his purpose for this season so I’ve settled into becoming his passenger princess, even though it’s much harder to grasp his plan with ease when I’m waiting for him to finally open a door. If you’re like me, you’ll have questions, what time will the blessing show up, what should I wear, should I reach out again? Does he have enough gas to get to where we’re going? Does he know I only eat seafood?
Present, stillness, and growing deeper in the love for ourselves is a positive way to learn how to embrace the current season and appreciate it for what it is.
You are so worthy of writing a new story this Spring. You are so worthy of rest. You are so worthy of walking away so you can make room for better. You are so worthy of meeting new people. You are so worthy of solitude. You are so worthy of trying again. You are so ready to see your ideas bloom this year. You are so worthy of getting back to yourself but even better than you were before. You are so worthy of letting them leave.
I am so fortunate to meet other business owners through Sunday Forever and indulge in friendships that inspire me and remind me why I started Sunday Forever and my non-profit organization New Roots Foundation, Incorporated in the first place. Although I knew success wouldn’t come overnight, sometimes I wish the journey made more sense in the middle of it. In exploring the challenges faced by women like Kasi Nayles, Founder of For the Few Intimates, we uncover the formidable obstacles encountered in the industry. Kasi's insights shed light on a prevalent issue: the limited availability of brown fabric options. "Initially, I assumed it was just intimate apparel brands not offering various nude shades," she shares, "but I soon discovered the issue was more widespread. Fabric companies themselves lacked diversity in shade options. This led us to custom-dye all our fabric. To match skin tones accurately, I took a photo of my mom and aunts to Home Depot, where I matched paint swatches to create our unique shades.”
I love that Kasi took a photo of the remarkable women she knew to start her brand. She also took her time with For the Few before its launch in 2023. Each detail is delicately planned to celebrate black and brown women. Like Kasi, attending the illustrious Howard University made me feel limitless and she also pursued a Master’s in Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the London College of Fashion. Because Kasi left an unfulfilling job we are now witnessing her create her legacy with For the Few intimates.
I am so excited to see more women relax into their promise this Spring. To open our hands wider so we can receive. Allowing ourselves to sink deeper and focus on the intimacy and sanctuaries that we can create in our bodies and our homes.
When asked about her Sunday routine, Kasi revealed, “Honestly, most Sundays are dedicated to getting ready for the upcoming week and tying up any loose ends from the weekend. I'm a big planner, but I'll admit I can also be a bit of a procrastinator, which might not be the best combination. Therefore, I typically use the day to wrap things up and prepare for the week ahead.”
But that's not all – Kasi's Sundays are also about nurturing her spiritual side. “Increasing my prayer time is one way I'm striving to be more vulnerable and open with myself,” she shared with a thoughtful smile. “I find that I'm most open and honest in my conversations with God. As I've grown older, I'm making an effort to engage in more of these meaningful conversations.” In a world where hustle often takes center stage, Kasi's Sundays serve as a reminder to slow down, reflect, and connect with both herself and something greater."

As we navigate the intricate dance between ambition and surrender, one thing remains certain: the unwavering presence of divine guidance. I am deeply grateful for the knowledge that God cares about every detail of our lives, a comforting thought that guides me through the uncertainty of waiting for doors to open. Like a passenger princess on a journey with the ultimate navigator, I find solace in relinquishing control and embracing the harmony of His purpose for this season.
In the gentle rhythm of present moments and the quiet stillness of introspection, I've discovered the beauty of self-love and acceptance. It's a journey that whispers of letting go, of finding strength in detachment from expected outcomes, and of gracefully stepping away from the weight of others' expectations. To my younger self and anyone listening, I extend the invitation to find peace in letting go, for therein lies the path to newfound strength and resilience.
As we welcome the vibrant blossoms of spring, let us also welcome the promise of renewal and growth. Inspired by remarkable women like Kasi Nayles, who turn challenges into triumphs, I am reminded of the power of perseverance and the beauty of creating legacies that celebrate diversity and inclusivity. With brands like For the Few Intimates leading the charge, we're invited to embrace our uniqueness, revel in our individuality, and create sanctuaries of intimacy and acceptance within ourselves and our homes. So, here's to sinking deeper, opening wider, and embracing the journey with hearts full of hope and anticipation.
