Can you believe it is May already? I can't, but I love how flowers bloom in May, and we celebrate mothers and graduations and lean into more Spring days. May feels like a month of renewal, release, and calm. This spring, I am calling in being, harmony, and trust. I am being more present and minimizing my desire to do. We often feel we must do more to fulfill our greatness, but finding stillness is the best way to tap into our potential. As writer Katherine Gutierrez says in her story Hindsight, "From the very day I took a breath on this Earth, power swelled in my lungs." That is powerful! Knowing that we can find harmony when we surrender and trust our season. Each day will bring us closer to perfect opportunities and the right community.
I am grateful that you are here again this Sunday, reading stories. I think about my grandmother's advice to me when I was younger. She told me the older we get, the less we'll focus on other people's opinions and actions and focus on our truth. Prioritizing our peace, happiness, and independence and being perfectly fine with who this attracts and who walks away. Currently, I feel so whole and happy. It's due to many things that I can't wait to share with you in my stories. I owe it all to my desire to be calm and patient. Last week writer Kamri Cole talked about surrender, and I shared a story I wrote when I was 29. Seeing that I focused on ease, stillness, and perfect days even last year, is beautiful. At 30, I am still unfolding, and today I am happy to share another love story I wrote at this age about returning home.
In Freedom, As A State, writer G.D. describes Freedom. "Freedom is simply being oneself, which is a radical thing to be—being true to yourself, your thoughts, and your feelings—having confidence and faith in yourself and your abilities, while in the same breath, respecting yourself to know your limits and boundaries, refusing others the ability to infringe upon them."
This spring is about restoration. Dreaming. Playfulness and finding more time to pour into passions. Most importantly, this spring is about the privilege to rest knowing that everything works for our good. Expecting things will not just be good but also excellent, maybe even divine!
I want to share one of my favorite episodes from the Black Girls Heal podcast by Shena Lashey. This Healed and Loved Meditation & Affirmations I listen to daily. Here are a few affirmations I think you will love:
I am open to trusting the right people
I deserve to be accepted by the people that I love
I deserve to be in relationships that are easy and full of peace
I am worthy of being nurtured and love
Healthy love and the receiving of it is my new normal
Every day I make decisions that bring me close to my goal
I am worthy of receiving love the kind of love I always wanted
I am available for love to come my way
Every day I make decisions that bring me closer to my goal
Also, if you're in L.A. or the surrounding areas, I will share a very important announcement soon!! We're hosting another Sunday Forever weekend on June 10-11th that will usher in Juneteenth and celebrate summer!
