Although I love you, you will have to leap;
Our dream of safety has to disappear.
-W.H. AUDEN
We all love weekends, and I favor Sundays so much because if we allow them, they support us in returning to a restoration before we begin a new week. Still, sometimes, I am such a busy body; other times, I enjoy the silence and disengage from my phone. This weekend's solitude was so nice; I lay comfortably on my couch, enjoying the sweetness of doing nothing but enjoying one of my favorite romances, Love & Basketball. I am mesmerized by the process behind great storytelling; stories like Love & Basketball are sentimental. I love imagining the characters' journey and relating to their expectations, feelings, wants, and needs. When watching movies, I want to brainstorm a new idea, similar to how writer and director Gina Prince-Bythewood felt when she watched "When Harry Met Sally" and envisioned this idea with an all-star black cast. She believes a filmmaker's first project in Hollywood should be a personal story only they could tell.
What's your story? We are all brilliant and capable of writing something that will blossom in divine timing. This is why I created "Brilliant," an intimacy + healing writing workshop happening this Sunday, August 21st, from 1-6 P.M. You are invited to brainstorm an idea, unwind and engage with a community of supportive and like-minded people. This day will feature four writing sessions, each curriculum uniquely led by Jeanine Daniels, DeAnna Carpenter, Angela Richardson, and me! We will have some fun by enjoying a brief intermission of flower-making and end the day with a nice dinner. Space is limited, so please sign up today! Please register for this event by paying what you can, or email events@sundayforever.co if you have any questions.
New beginnings take vulnerability and courage. To say that I am excited about this event is an understatement. I look forward to a day of writing, inspiration, and openness. Like me, you have books full of pictures, memories, and trips you want to write about. The time is now. Our dream of safety has to disappear. It's to write, restore and oh and leap!
