I love receiving great news. To call in the great news, effort, bravery, and commitment must be there. And often, rejection and a few challenging disappointments come before the major opportunity pours in. The most important works were written, ideas came to fruition, and businesses were created by Founders who weren’t moved by the moments that led to a Yes. I also noticed that No comes quicker than a yes or not now. Be patient with your dreams. Be patient with your life. In the words of my mom, no news is good news.
Over the weekend, a friend asked about my favorite Sunday Forever event, and I told her all. Community programming was also a part of my plan, and I am so grateful that each event is unique, and it’s been wonderful to see how fruitful they have been.
In August 2022, we hosted our first Sunday Forever weekend in Los Angeles that kicked off with a Sunset sound bath and writing activity, and we ended the evening with delicious juices donated by Pressed Juicery. One of my favorite takeaways of the night was seeing men who had never attended a sound bath fully immersed in the experience. That Sunday, we had a time at High Tide’s Oasis eating yummy comfort food by Flavor of Fox and dancing to sounds by Elz the DJ! The celebrations concluded with a writing workshop at Mingle’s Tea Bar in Inglewood. A day that was restorative and an absolute dream! The outpouring of support from companies like Lululemon, who gifted us with 30 gift cards for each man and woman. Write Girl Los Angeles is a beautiful organization that donated journals. Sanctuary Scents with sweet candles. Final Draft for showering us with writing software, and last but not least, Fraiche Signatures for providing food that attendees and I still swoon over. Led by talented women writers DeAnna Carpenter, Angela Richardson, Jeanine Daniels, and me!
When I was younger, I thought I wanted to change the world through entertainment, creating, and making a difference. Now that I am much older and wiser, I want to be a testament to how far you can go when you believe in your dreams. I love becoming the woman and humanitarian of my dreams.
Since March, I have been planning what I think will be another magical weekend, and I can’t wait to see you in person on Saturday, June 10th, or Sunday, June 11th in Los Angeles. We are ushering in Juneteenth and African American Music Appreciation Month while introducing our audience to flavorful cuisine, timeless vibes, cool DJs, and new friends!! On Saturday, June 10th, we will host A Lovely Morning, a restorative yoga + meditation session led by Derek Garlington, followed by a wine down at Dockweiler Beach with games and networking. A Soft Sunday brunch on June 11th is a day that will connect the Los Angeles community and out-of-towners with soft sounds, comfort food, and soothing music. While most people dread Sundays, this brunch will prepare you mentally and spiritually with jazz and soul music and introduce you to Sunday Forever x New Roots mission, Fraiche Signatures food by celebrity Chef E Dubble, and the vibrant vibe of High Tide. Sounds by Elz the DJ, DJ Nomi, Soraya, and more!
It can be challenging for a small business owner to follow through with each vision, but your words of affirmation, encouragement, and attendance make it worthwhile. Please stay tuned for more details on Friday!
