Hi ya’ll,
On Sunday, my mom and I went to see The Little Mermaid. It was a beautiful and nostalgic moment because I always wanted to be a little mermaid. I love water and appreciate Ariel’s curiosity and desire to thrive outside her comfort zone. It reminded me of a funny moment when I joined a swim team, and after only one practice, I remember competing in my first swim race.
To my surprise, I was the only one who showed up, but that didn't stop me from jumping willingly into the pool and competing against skilled swimmers. I can't make this up, but I did it. My slow freestyle won me last place. My parents pulled me out of the pool to a crowd of applause. Looking out at the roar of applause reminded me that fortitude is displayed by not giving up. By taking chances. This was one of the moments where I realized: I am resilient and have stories to tell.
I wondered what my family and the crowd must have thought, watching me patiently as I glided in my lane toward my goal. The same happens as I embark on another journey to plan our second Sunday Forever weekend in Los Angeles. I am so grateful for my tenacity to overcome all obstacles, that I never lost my childlike belief in myself, and that the possibilities are endless. Growing with Sunday Forever over the last three years has been a dream. This passion project turned business is part of a legacy bigger than me.
I started Sunday Forever with only 100 subscribers. I am so grateful for the outpouring of love that has brought me this far. To my family, and friends, Kayla Salisbury, for her illustrations and devotion to each issue, and to every single subscriber and person who sat down with me for an interview. I am no longer afraid of how long it will take to reach the finish line. I am most thankful for the journey and the people who clap for me. At the end of each weekend, a community will pull me up, and I hope to do the same for them.
